The Urban Community Group was established in 2010 in response to a demand
from investors wanting low risk residential projects in suburbs with strong
social and transport infrastructure where both capital growth and strong yields
were possible.
Our model was immediately tested as May 2010 proved to be the lowest point
for property value in Brisbane as we emerged from the Global Financial Crisis.
Cody Robb is a Co-Founder and the Managing Director of The Urban Community Group.
Cody has a deep knowledge of the property market, town planning and design built up over many years as a consultant to other developers. He previously co-managed a building company with responsibility for construction estimating and project scheduling.
The practical effect of knowledge and relationships in the real estate and experience in construction has proved invaluable to The Urban Community Group’s risk management regime when assessing potential development opportunities.
Cody specialises in sourcing off market sites that forms The Urban Community Group’s pipeline of project offerings for investors. The scope of these projects includes larger apartment developments, hotels and land sub-divisions. Future projects include island resort developments, retirement communities, integrated medical centres and agricultural businesses.
His responsibilities begin with identifying suitable projects for our investors and negotiates the purchase contracts. He performs the due diligence to ensure projects meet or exceed the target returns. Once our Directors and industry partners are also satisfied the projects meet our investors needs, Cody directs the design process and manages the consultants needed to achieve a development and planning approval.
The development and planning approval is just the start, Cody manages the engineering and construction consultants in preparation for construction. During this stage he also formally appoints the builder, marketing and sales agencies. The final stage is completion, which requires final certification and registration of the completed building ready for sales settlements and occupation.
According to Cody, “being involved in the property development process from start to finish, seeing the early design ideas become real in the completed building is immensely satisfying.”
